I believe there’s no bright line between Brand and Digital. Like a digital product, a brand exists not as a static, singular thing, but as a current version of an ever-evolving organism that’s constantly iterating based on ongoing dialogue.

In order to thrive in a digital environment brands need to be developed with the Internet in their DNA. They need to be purpose-built. Optimized for interaction. And always ready to iterate, evolve, and grow. Which means that
if you want to create work that works, you need to design systems, not outcomes. And you need to figure out when to speak, and when to listen.

Above all else, I consider myself a “creative strategist”. That, to me, means someone who can

  • Understand (or set) an objective

  • Take a lot of data in

  • Boil it down to a clear, explanation, idea, or solution that motivates people.

  • Create a plan of action using the available tactics that guides people to an outcome.

The part about being a “creative” strategist rather than just a garden-variety “strategist” is my tendency to “create” outcomes, not just hypotheses. I execute not just theorize. This idea is codified in the way I work: Create Work that Works, and Show, Don’t Tell.
